Training
has been a core element of OHSMT since its inception.. It is based on a
firm belief that indivuals'
knowledge
of Health & Safety at all levels in an organisation
is key to the effective control of hazards and
risks.
Understanding management issues in relation to Health & Safety has become prominent over the past few years, and this is certainly important. Experience suggests, however, that no matter how good the management skills may be, they will not be effective if risk cannot be recognised in the many forms that it can take in the workplace. The training therefore aims to ensure a good technical grounding in the issues which can then be put into the context of effective control methods; technical, managerial and legal. The essence of all the training is that it can be tailored closely to an individual organisation's requirements and can accurately reflect the circumstances and situations that might be encountered relevant to an individual's own work experience Too often commercial 'off the shelf' courses plough through the syllabus with little regard to individual delegates' real needs. |
